A coreless axial flux‐switching generator for micro‐wind turbine application

Abstract The efficiency, power density, and torque of axial flux generators are higher than those radial generators. In this paper, a new switching generator with coreless stator is designed for micro wind turbine applications. Generator parts based on nominal values, their dimensions determined. Cogging an undesired ripple intrinsic in the design permanent magnet generator, which should be minimized due to its effects: vibration noise. addition, since aerodynamic low during start‐up at speeds, cogging must as possible achieve cut‐in speed. design, optimization, fabrication flux‐switching micro‐wind application investigated compared conventional one. prototype machine axial‐field two‐rotor‐one‐stators configuration. proposed made up coils magnets has no iron core. First, generator's reduce using various calculated according these values. Then was simulated three‐dimensionally FEM. Finally, desired built. Comparing results obtained from finite element method laboratory testing shows that broadly consistent.
